What a thoughtful, insightful, and chilling letter a writer wrote on Sept. 12, suggesting that President Trump might refuse to step down when he loses in 2020.

As we think about it, Mitch McConnell and Trump’s other greedy, gutless Republican cohorts have already signed off on his shredding the Constitution this far, so why shouldn’t he believe that he can go the same way many of his dictator buddies have gone and become “President For Life”? Plus…he well knows that jail likely awaits him when he’s no longer president, as his office has been the only reason he has not been charged with crimes to date.

Disturbingly, Trump himself has already alluded to his belief that he is “owed” extra time as president, because the Mueller investigation had, “stolen two years of my presidency” (Twitter, May 5, 2019).

We thank the letter writer for shining a bright light on this disastrous possibility. In 2020, voting Trump out decisively and electing a Democratic senate may be the only ways we can preserve our Democracy!
