Give Obama the Congress he needs to help us
Recently, a reader objected to the idea that people hate President Obama because he is a black man and added that, “you’re not a racist simply for choosing the businessman.”
While it’s naive to believe that there is no racism behind the shocking disrespect that this president has endured, it’s even more astounding that this reader actually believes Mitt Romney wants to bring about meaningful change. Stop getting your information from Fox News!
Things have been going just great for Mitt and his pals. In truth, Romney and the Republicans are not interested in any changes that would improve the economy for all Americans. They only want to improve their own, already obscene profit margins … help the 1 percent at the expense of the other 99 percent of us.
These aren’t “successful businessmen.” And they would rather see President Obama fail than see Americans succeed.
We don’t need a new president; we need a new Congress! This November we need to vote out the Republicans who have smugly blocked Obama’s every effort to improve the lot of Americans through their record use of the filibuster rule. Let’s sweep them out and give President Obama a real chance to help all of us, a chance that has been selfishly denied him so far.
