Keep money flowing to nation's backbone

Well, Senate Republicans have once again done what Republicans seem born to do…pass shameful legislation under cover of darkness, aimed at enriching our wealthiest citizens and corporations.

Their odious bill hammers New Yorkers hardest of all, as it would effectively “double tax” our already high property tax rates by eliminating several tax deductions on federal returns. That means that money will come out of the pocket of every man, woman and child in New York state to provide more benefits for President Trump and his already obscenely wealthy cronies. Rep. Claudia Tenney promises to vote against the bill if it comes back to the House containing that clause. We’ll see if she keeps her word.

Republicans suggest lower corporate tax rates create more jobs, but real wage hikes, stagnant since the 70’s, would be far more productive to the economy. Just look at Kansas’ outcomes under their grand experiment with voodoo economics. This bill sends an historic flow of money up to those already thriving. We’d rather see that money flow – not “trickle”- down to assure this country’s safety net is always there for all the hard working people who actually made this country great.
