Beyond the tantrums, we need to fix things

January marks the first time in Donald Trump’s entire, entitled life that he’ll be told “no.” Maybe if someone had said that in his younger days, we wouldn’t now be embarrassed by our president throwing a “terrible twos” temper tantrum that has shut down his government.

Now our Democratic House majority, including our new Rep. Anthony Brindisi, can start moving us forward. We ask them to support the “Green New Deal,” a Progressive economic stimulus program that re-imagines Franklin Roosevelt’s social and economic reforms, with a focus on work projects that promote renewable energy sources. It also proposes that funds spent on obscene tax cuts for the wealthy be re-channeled into a single-payer, “Medicare For All” health care package. Republicans claim that the money is not there. They’re lying…it’s the caring that’s not there.

There is so much to undo! Republican election theft and suppression laws must be rolled back! “Useful idiots” like Donald Jr., Roger Stone and Paul Manafort, who serve Putin’s interests must be held to account! OK, time to take a breath. November’s “Blue Wave” was one answer to our call for help. Now, let’s begin the healing process…hopefully with a little help from Robert Mueller.
