Republicans should all be ashamed

To read The Mueller Report, even William Barr’s absurdly censored version, is to realize just how spectacularly successful the Russians were in hijacking America’s 2016 election and installing their “boy”, Donald Trump to the presidency. Putin has been wildly reaping the benefits for the last two years, and we have dutifully done exactly nothing to prevent a repeat in 2020.

To watch President Trump, his family and his cronies systematically loot the US Treasury and pass laws only to enrich themselves makes us sadly realize that our president is little more than an entitled two-bit hustler, conning a third of the country into thinking that he is a self-made genius businessman and leader, even as brilliant reporting proves exactly the opposite is true. Most New Yorkers have always known this about him.

But, to watch Mitch McConnell, Lindsay Graham and their fellow Republicans cravenly enable Trump’s lies, disregard for law and his attempts to circumvent the Constitution by eliminating checks and balances, is to expose them as zealous collaborators in his determination to march America from democracy to autocracy.

What a disgrace! At this point, no Republican should be able to look his or her fellow American in the eye.
