Sanders, Warren not really scary

We are surprised and disappointed that Rep. Anthony Brindisi has already ruled out supporting Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren as Democratic presidential candidates. Please, stop freaking out over Progressives! Democratic Socialism only means that government puts its resources toward supporting its people’s basic needs — health care, child-care, education, housing.

This relieves so much anxiety about life that it’s no wonder Scandinavian countries are the happiest in the world. Democratic Socialism is NOT Cuba or Venezuela!

When Republicans lost the midterm elections, they doubled down on what they stood for: stoking fear, stacking the Judicial system, suppressing votes and passing laws to maximize obscene profits for the rich and for corporations. They did not fearfully move to more “centrist” or “moderate” candidates and positions in order to attract Democrats. Republicans stayed disgracefully unashamed about who they wanted to be.

Well, Democrats need to stand up loudly and forcefully for our own values of equal rights and opportunities for all men and women! We won’t win in November by trying to prove that we are “Republican-lite.” We only win by getting out every single voter who believes in our values … because in the end, there are way more of US than there are of them.
