Writer, and president, not interested in the truth
We read a recent letter from a writer trashing No Kings Day, so obviously we need to explain things more simply. Yes, we get sarcasm and we are quite aware that America is a Democratic Republic, as opposed to a monarchy. Many have died to keep it so.
The problem is that our president seems uninterested in that fact.
Term limits? He’s still fighting the 2020 election results, claiming he was robbed of his rightful second term. Limitations on powers? He chooses to ignore our entire system of checks and balances and our Constitution, to the point that he didn’t even feel he had to consult Congress about taking America to war, as is clearly mandated!
Does anyone even remember the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, which forbids a president from taking gifts or using his office to enrich himself in any way? There’s a hoot!
We could go on, but in short, despite whatever the writer seeks to justify, Trump acts like a king, not a president…and we just won’t have it! That’s why we were out there! Oh, just one more thing for this writer: If you really don’t believe that Trump’s policies are “exhaustingly cruel and inhumane” we invite you to have a chat with the people of Minneapolis!
